Vernon and Irene Castle are the couple that brought the Waltz into America. As America’s best ballroom dancing couple, many people in society started to pick up the steps they were dancing. One famous dance they performed in ballrooms was the Boston. The Boston, originating in America, was danced in circles in different directions, whereas the Viennese Waltz, Weller, was danced in a circle but only in one direction. As the Castle’s became more infamous and created different styles of dancing the older movement. They brought about the change to what Waltz is danced today. They opened many schools and taught all of these different styles, making them well known to all classes.
